No deal seen for online gambler
The online gaming firm BetonSports' shares remain halted after FBI arrests executives.
Online gaming group BetonSports has not reached a deal with U.S. prosecutors over charges against the company and its chief executive, a source close to the situation said on Wednesday.
Shares in online gaming companies had earlier rallied after a gaming news Web site published a report saying the U.S. Department of Justice had reached a deal with BetonSports allowing it to resume trading by the end of the week.
"No deal has been done between BetonSports and the Department of Justice," the source told Reuters.
BetonSports was not immediately available for comment.
Worries of a crackdown on online gambling in the United States knocked gaming stocks on Tuesday after the FBI moved to shut down the U.S. operations of BetonSports.
One UK trader cited a report on theonlinewire.com, which said BetonSports had reached a deal with the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday night, meaning the case was company-specific and not linked to an industry-wide crack down.
Traders said the sector was also due for a bounce after sharp falls this week. Shares in Sportingbet.com Plc earlier rallied 15 percent, while Partygaming Plc rose 11 percent and 888 Plc gained 10 percent.
But by early morning Wednesday, Sportingbet was down 3.6 percent from its opening price, PartyGaming was down 1.2 percent, and 888 shares were flat.
Shares in BETonSPORTS remain suspended.

but Kenna James had never seen one so poignant.
An 8-year-old boy, watching a veteran who lost
both legs during a rocket grenade attack in Iraq,
pledged his allowance for the year — about $1,000
— to a non-profit organization that assists severely
injured soldiers.
In a room full of poker players, the raising had just

When it was all over, James' Operation Helping
Hand — a benefit tournament held this week
during the World Series of Poker's main event in
Las Vegas — had raised $170,000 for the Wounded
Warrior Project, which provides prosthetics and
other care to veterans. "It started with a passing
of the hat to auctioning off items to 8- and 60-year
-olds pouring out their hearts to these guys," James
said of the after-party. "It was very emotional."

It's finally over. The World Series of Poker has finished for another year and we saw a few very memorable things happen.
Phil Hellmuth claimed his 10th bracelet to join Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson as the all time leaders. He almost claimed his 11th in the final event, finishing 3rd which was enough to see him finish the 2006 WSOP as the overall points leader, with the most final table appearances.
Joe Hachem proved he was not just a one tournament wonder, making it to 2 final tables, winning $347,282 and finishing 5th in the overall points race. Who knows what would have happened if his AA wasn't cracked in the main event...
Jeff Madsen emerged as a new young poker star, winning two bracelets, making 4 final tables and taking home $1.5 million, all at just 21 years of age.
Jamie Gold proved that you can keep the chip lead for a long time in the main event, fighting off all challengers and busting an incredible 7/8 players on the final table to win the biggest ever prize in poker history.
Chip Reese, often regarded as the world's best all around poker player, proved he could be just that by winning the $50,000 buy in H.O.R.S.E. event.
Harrahs drew a ridiculous line in the sand by banning all '-com' advertising at the WSOP, but allowed online gaming companies to advertise using '-net' domains.

Phil Hellmuth claimed his 10th bracelet to join Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson as the all time leaders. He almost claimed his 11th in the final event, finishing 3rd which was enough to see him finish the 2006 WSOP as the overall points leader, with the most final table appearances.
Joe Hachem proved he was not just a one tournament wonder, making it to 2 final tables, winning $347,282 and finishing 5th in the overall points race. Who knows what would have happened if his AA wasn't cracked in the main event...
Jeff Madsen emerged as a new young poker star, winning two bracelets, making 4 final tables and taking home $1.5 million, all at just 21 years of age.
Jamie Gold proved that you can keep the chip lead for a long time in the main event, fighting off all challengers and busting an incredible 7/8 players on the final table to win the biggest ever prize in poker history.
Chip Reese, often regarded as the world's best all around poker player, proved he could be just that by winning the $50,000 buy in H.O.R.S.E. event.
Harrahs drew a ridiculous line in the sand by banning all '-com' advertising at the WSOP, but allowed online gaming companies to advertise using '-net' domains.
www-ixgames-com/poker-com/ bailed out the Check'n'Raise poker players that had their WSOP dreams shattered.
